Did you really want to become a founder member or were Nick's skills of persuasion too hard to resist?
Nick said that we had to join or he would tell everyone that the 'big guys' down at iCrossing were just big mouths. Seriously though, we had one phone call and said yes. We think that Brighton's diverse range of digital companies benefit from Wired Sussex and it was time to give something back.
What's going to happen to Wired Sussex in the next five years?
The digital economy is still in its infancy. Over the next 5 years there is a great opportunity for Brighton to further enhance its reputation for excellence in all things interactive, digital and online. We think that Wired Sussex can help encourage and support the growth of local talent and enterprise to ensure that the area becomes a true centre for digital excellence. Sounds a bit clichéd, but we think that there is a wide-open opportunity to build on the good reputation Wired Sussex has already.
What was your most unpleasant job (factory work included) and how did it help you to get where you are today?
The paper round when I was 13 was not the most empowering experience of my life. I had to get up at 5am and try to deliver newspapers, some of which were bigger than me at the time, whilst running away from dogs. The highlight was my £12 per week pay cheque, easy money!
Everyone's got a book in them, what's yours?
How to be a childish CEO.
If you could pinch anyone's genius idea (myspace, youtube, the wheel) and claim it as your own, what would it be?
That there is unaccounted value in giving our attention to any media. See www.attentiontrust.org
When you're not being a big cheese and making important decisions, what do you do for fun?
Pillow fights with my daughter are good, and just about the best way to live for the moment I can imagine.
