The growth of the local games sector; from newborns to teenagers..

We’ve all heard about the successes of the games sector, especially with the ‘Black Pebble’ companies that have formed as a result of the Disney’s Black Rock office closure.  I thought it time to recap and take another look at how they’re doing, especially drilling down on some stats I’ve been examining, and to hear how the studios are managing their workforce to fit in with their growth…. Wired for Sound 2013 – Even more fun was had at our 2nd charity DJ compeition

Untangling the Wires – TV and the web

Last week we ‘Untangled the Wires’  between TV and the web at the 3rd Wired Sussex ConnectedTV Brighton event. We were really pleased to hear from Nigel Walley, Managing Director of London based media strategy consultancy Decipher. Nigel works at the forefront of the evolving TV revolution and heads up Decipher’s work defining future formats for television advertising.  He is the Chairman of the Decipher Group of companies which includes iBurbia, the interactive media research lab and also the chair of Manchester Digital’s TV Tech Group, launched in January 2013. ‘Wired for Sound’ fundraiser event: a bit about the 2nd of your nominated charities – FareShare Brighton and Hove

Following on from last week’s blog post about our ‘Wired for Sound‘ event’s first nominated charity I’d like to present a bit more detail about the 2nd local charity in which our DJ competition and social will be supporting;  ‘FareShare Brighton and Hove‘:   FareShare Brighton and Hove: Fighting Hunger, Tackling Food Waste and Improving People’s Chances. At FareShare Brighton and Hove we do three amazing things. Firstly we tackle food waste by collecting quality surplus food from the food industry and saving it from landfill. You should have all heard that we’re running our 2nd ‘Wired for Sound‘ charity event in which Wired Sussex members can give DJing a go, ‘Stick it On’ and battle it out for the prestigious title of ‘Best DJ’ and enjoy a more social style of event for the sector. ReCreate and The FuseBox – what it means to me!

It’s not often you get to work for an organisation where there’s opportunity to turn the work that you do into something that will really make a difference to the sector as well as the local community. Delivering Different Business Thinking for a Disruptive Sector.      We’d like to tell you about a new initiative that we are launching shortly.
