dSCAPE/05 Animation Workshop
Date: Wednesday 9 November 2005
Time: 6.30-10.30pm
Venue: Fabrica, Brighton
I just want to thank you for inviting me to speak at the animation workshop, I really enjoyed it and could have gone on for hours - thanks again, it was very inspiring! Angie Taylor - Animation Workshop Trainer
The dSCAPE/05 Animation Workshop offered an insight into the lives of the creative people that have animation as their chosen career path. Speakers discussed the uses of motion software that utilised the form and offered most scope for their creative ideas. The night was attended by a more specialised audience but the healthy mix of creative and technically focused people meant that the evening was enriched by the diversity of participants.
Sarah Strickett and Angie Taylor were the voices of experience, opening and closing the night with examples of their own work. Thoroughly in awe of these artists work, the audience was also treated to a detailed talk through the uses of Adobe After Effects, which proved to have relevance for experts and novices alike.
A local showcase which included Cathy Jones, Sketchy Animation, Simon Cornish, Itchy Pictures, and Richard and Tom, The Kingdom, gave space for Sussex talent to discuss their careers and show their work. Though the experience was no doubt daunting, speakers agreed that it was rewarding to see their work being screened to an appreciative audience.
Networking opportunities were embraced, many attendees had no knowledge of the range of animators based in Brighton and took the chance to make contacts and discuss their work.
Brilliant to be around people in the world of animation. Darren, Whitehawk Inn student - Animation Workshop attendee
