Cathy Jones has been making animations since 1993 when she got her first computer and started experimenting with a basic animation program. Thoroughly enjoying it, she went on to do a Masters degree in 3D Computer Animation in 1997, although since then she has almost exclusively made 2D work.
In 2001, after spending many Sunday afternoons with a friend trying to make a ridiculously overambitious animation model, she realised they needed to learn how to do it properly so enrolled on an animation course at Brighton College. Whilst there, she experimented with many techniques, eventually ending up hooked on Flash.
Cathy likes to make animations that use words as well as images - often starting with the words; nonsense rhymes, fragments of conversations she overhears, misheard lyrics - anything that sparks her imagination. She also likes making series' of work, taking a simple, core idea and approaching it from different angles.
