    The 11th of December sees the Carnival O Fun move festively into a brand spanking new venue and a merge of two of Brighton’s best groups – Flash Brighton & BANG! We are leaving the red hot shores of Carnival Island (The Cricketers) and heading via sled dogs to the snowy peaked mountain range of Christmas Province…or in other words Lighthouse’s Digital Lounge complete with bar – so you can fill up on Mulled Wine…or beer! Come and feast your eyes on a selection of funny festive themed films, YouTube clips and animations specially selected by Flash Brighton’s Carnival King, Richard Mitchelson!

    dSCAPE/07 Animation Night is a must-attend for anyone working in – and passionate about – animation in Brighton and the South East. This year’s event will bring together Irish and English animators to showcase their work and discuss the socio-political influences that have informed its inception and development. This will include reflection on current economic prosperity in both the UK and more dramatically in Ireland, plus cultural issues such as religious conflict and immigration. The format will include screenings and facilitated panel discussion.

As Head of Exhibitions at the BFI, Michael Connor is leading the development of a new exhibition space dedicated to artists' film, video, and new media within the new BFI Southbank complex in London that opens to the public in February 2007. He will discuss this new development and consider why the moving image is transforming the nature of contemporary art.
