Technical Designer

This is an excellent opportunity to join our talented and motivated design team working on exciting new content for the Total War: Warhammer series at our studio in Horsham.

You'll become part of a world class development team working on titles in the award-winning Total War series and will have the opportunity to make a mark on our new project, contributing to creation of a genre-defining game.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Designer your primary role will be to support the current LIVE game with fixes, new design content, and improvements focused around metrics and community feedback. You will also support the wider Design Team through creating content, scripts and templates, developing pipelines, tools, and features in both concept and production phase.

You will work closely with gameplay coders and designers to ensure smooth implementation of game fixes, updates, and new features. You will hold yourself to a high-quality level and ensure your code is robust, clean script adhering to the best practices and guidelines.

You will need to communicate clearly and effectively, and the ability to apply your strong technical and game design skills to the project will be critical to the success of this role.


  • Previous Technical Design role in game dev environment, ideally one of which AAA
  • Familiar with at least one scripting language and at least one programming language (ideally C-based)
  • Strong knowledge of game design fundamentals and a keen interest in games development overall
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience creating design tools
  • Comfortable working closely with programmers
  • Comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in unfamiliar systems and rapidly becoming familiar with them
  • Experience with source control


  • Passion to play and make Total War games
  • A knowledge of and passion for Warhammer lore
  • Experience creating maintainable, long-term, and reasonably easy to use game systems and tools for development
  • Two or more shipped titles
  • Experience with Games as a Service
