About the role

We're looking for a skilled front-end developer to join the Create team. In this varied role you will help thousands of users, many of whom have never built a website before, to get online, start their own businesses and change their lives.

In addition to optimising and improving our own marketing site, you'll be involved in developing the products, tools and resources used by thousands of users every day, as well as the foundations of everything they use our tools to create.

We love seeing the immediate positive impact that just a few small changes can have on thousands of websites, so you'll also help to ensure that the websites and online stores created by our users are as good as they can be, working on the templates and underlying code we provide.


Skills Range:

Essential skills

  • Strong understanding of HTML and CSS (and ideally Sass)
  • Confident working with Javascript and jQuery.
  • Basic understanding of PHP and comfortable working on the front-end code within or alongside it.
  • An eye for good design and what makes a great user experience.
  • Experience building mobile friendly and responsive designs.

Desirable Skills

  • Comfortable working with version control, ie. Git.
  • Experience with a command line workflow including tools like Gulp.
  • Visual design skills with experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, etc.
  • Some understanding of the concepts around A/B testing and Conversion Rate Optimisation.

You'll be based in our modern, eco-friendly offices in the Westergate Business Centre. Just off Lewes Road in Brighton, UK.
