PHIL GRABSKY followed by Q & A

Director of THE BOY WHO PLAYS ON THE BUDDHAS OF BAMIYAN will talk about the making of this astonishing film and his latest feature documentary IN SEARCH OF MOZART

Phil's company Seventh Art Productions is a UK based producer of award-winning factual programmes for British and international broadcasters. Current and past productions include the feature length documentary THE BOY WHO PLAYS ON THE BUDDHAS OF BAMIYAN, as well as accessible history programmes such as I, CAESAR and NERO'S GOLDEN HOUSE for the BBC and THE HIDDEN HISTORY OF EGYPT AND ROME for Discovery US and the BBC.

THE BOY WHO PLAYS ON THE BUDDHAS OF BAMIYAN
'the boy' is an eight-year-old called Mir Hussain. He is fun, cheeky, inquisitive, energetic and bright. He also lives in a cave and owns virtually nothing - though to him this is normal; it is all he's known

"…a compelling documentary… Watching it is a reminder that you don't necessarily need massive budgets to be a distinctive, public service... But you do need mavericks who are brave." Maggie Brown, Guardian

"the survival of refugees is matched to stunning landscape photography...haunting" Nick James, Sight & Sound

Phil's latest project IN SEARCH OF MOZART is a feature documentary film to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth (January 2006). It will be the first major cinema/television film about the composer since 1967.

Neglected genius. Wunderkind. Rebellious superstar. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791) has become a series of myths that has made it almost impossible for a 21st century audience to know who the real man was. This major film will seek to unravel the myth.

YOU, the audience can TAKE THE MIKE for the first 30 minutes of the evening to appeal for crew, introduce yourself or talk about projects that you are looking to collaborate on.

See you there!
