Reconfiguration

A series of events, organised by Blip in association with Lighthouse, that explores how artists are reconfiguring technology.

Paul Granjon's Sexed Robots.

The latest robotic creations from internationally acclaimed artist Paul Granjon.
Part of the Brighton Digital Festival 2006.
Monday - Saturday 12pm - 6pm. 24 October - 4 November.

After their successful showing at the Venice Biennale, the male and female robots will be roaming around an arena in the new Lighthouse building (Argus Lofts, 26 Kensington Street, Brighton BN1 4AJ). Most of the time they avoid each other (and the walls) but when they come into heat they seek each other out and try to mate. Free admission. Children very welcome.

Pyrophonic!

A groundbreaking evening of live performance by musicians and visual artists.
Part of the Brighton Digital Festival 2006.
8pm Friday 3 November, The Old Market, Hove.

An evening of live performance by musicians and visual artists commissioned by Lighthouse and Blip. This event fuses the surreal wit of artist Paul Granjon with a series of collaborative electronic, acoustic and visual improvisations from the newly formed 'Not Applicable Artists' and visual artists Squint and Brittski.

The first spark is struck by Paul Granjon who will demonstrate primitive fire-making technology and sing a couple of songs with his home-made machines. The Not Applicable Artists will then get the fire roaring with a series of live electronic/acoustic and visual improvisations. This new collaboration sees Ollie Bown and Ismbard Khroustaliov (aka Icarus) join forces with F-IRE collective artists Tom Arthurs (trumpet), Maurizio Ravalico (percussion) and Lothar Ohlmeier (bass clarinet). Visual fuel is added to the final mix by visual artists Squint and Brittski with their unique blend of 16mm footage, looped video and slides.

Pyrophonic! will take place at The Old Market, Upper Market Street, Hove, on Friday, 3 November. Tickets are £7 and available from The Old Market (01273 736 222), Rounder Records (01273 325 440), Resident Records (01273 606 312) and on the web. Doors open at 7 pm and the performance starts at 8 pm. Further information.
