Taking digital to Doha...
 Doha, capital of Qatar, has got big plans for next year – it’s going to be the Arab Capital of Culture for 2010 under a UNESCO initiative to promote and celebrate Arab culture. Wired Sussex has been approached by a representative who wants us to introduce them to local interactive companies interested in producing exciting, cutting edge digital work especially for live events.
It’s a great chance for Wired Sussex member companies to deliver for a growing international market and work with some decent budgets; if you want to be involved, drop Phil a para or two with some ideas or examples of the kind of thing you could do.

Does your company do 3D Visualisation?
The Technology Strategy Board runs something called the Small Business Research Initiative, which aims to use small, innovative companies to solve the needs of government departments. One project, recently announced – you need to register an interest by 7 August – is looking for a company with 3D Visualisation/and or AI Technology capabilities to undertake research around controlling/modeling motorway traffic in the UK. Website tender for Youth Screens project
Youth Screens will be a local, regional and global online portal for young disabled people from the South East to share their stories and ideas through filmmaking; organisers Screen South are putting the website out to tender. The site must incorporate both design solutions accessible to all and incorporate rich media; the project is up for tender until 14th August. More on the brief and how to apply here.

Best in Brighton?
 The 2009 BAHBAs, Brighton’s annual celebration of the companies, organisations and individuals that make Brighton great, have now been officially launched. Entries are open until 30th July and winners get to benefit from Midnight’s impressive PR campaign around the awards, so entering could well be worth your while; Wired Sussex are the sponsors of the Creative Industries award – and Wired Sussex member Nixon Mcinnes the Most Awesome Use of Digital Media Award.
