‘Chuck the Eco Duck’, a new animated series aimed at pre-school children, is launching an online campaign to promote its TV debut later this year.

Search and social media specialist White Hat Media has been appointed to create a website that will be the hub of all promotional activity surrounding the first thirteen-part series, as well as an entertainment and educational resource for children, parents and teachers.

The character Chuck, an ecologically minded duck mindful of his carbon web-print, was created to entertain children and make them aware of environmental issues and citizenship. A number of big names are behind the series – Harry Potter actress Miranda Richardson voiced the promotional DVD and will feature on the website, while Prime Focus, one of the UK's largest production houses involved in designing special effects for Avatar and Twilight has animated the Chuck TV episodes.

Chuck the Eco Duck started life as an audio series commissioned for radio. Fourteen ten minute episodes aired last year on Sony Award-winning DAB radio station Fun Kids Radio.

“Online marketing is the most effective promotional medium for us and we’ll be directing everyone to the site,” said Caroline Phillips, Marketing Director at Ultra Green, which produces Chuck the Eco Duck. “We appointed White Hat Media because we are confident the company understands the requirements of a site targeting multiple audiences. We wanted to make sure that children, parents, teachers and the media all find Chuck’s website relevant and useful. The website also gives us the flexibility we need to showcase Chuck’s multi-platform materials; offering audio stories, video episodes and online games. Initially we’ll have a variety of free downloadable items including activity sheets, podcasts and colouring books.”

Chuck the Eco Duck’s website will host specific areas for education, games and the pre-school age group.

“The second stage of the project will see an e-commerce function added to the site, allowing Ultra Green to sell Chuck the Eco Duck merchandise online,” said Jeremy Spiller, MD of White Hat Media. “We’ll continually be updating the website with new features, driving traffic and creating an online buzz in the run up to the launch of the TV series.”
