For five days this October, as part of Brighton Digital Festival, some of Brighton’s best digital companies are opening their doors for Open Studios: Talent Week to showcase what they do, where they do it and how.
So how can you make the most of Open Studios?
Do your research. Have a look at the companies taking part, plan which ones you would like to meet, make sure you know a bit about them beforehand, and look on their website and think of intelligent questions to ask them to make you stand out.
Check out the Talent2017 videos. Lots of great advice on job seeking was shared at our Talent2017 festival earlier this year, check them out here.
Get your CV or portfolio up to date. We have a few recruiting companies taking part, so bringing along a CV will show your eagerness to get yourself out there. Check out our advice page or our blog post on ‘How to write a great graduate CV’ for tips.
Tweet about the event. Whether you’re a social media guru or not, tweeting (other platforms are available) about the event you’ve registered for will catch the company’s eye. During and after the event talk about who you have met and the cool experiences you’ve been having. Make sure you include the company’s Twitter handle and the hashtag #BDFOpenStudios.
Make notes. Whether it’s on a phone or a notepad, take note of helpful tips, resources and contact information of those you meet to refer back to later.
Network. Networking can seem quite daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are our tips for networking.
Like/follow/subscribe. If you meet a company you’re interested in, following them on social media and subscribe to their newsletter – it’s a great way to keep up to date on opportunities.
See who’s involved this year here! All events are free to attend and open to everyone, but please register asap to secure a place.
