As my time with Wired Sussex draws to an end, I thought I would write a blog on my experience during this internship.
As I was coming to the end of my degree I was looking for an opportunity to work with a company which would give me my first glimpse into the digital media industry. Wired Sussex had a position for an Events and Marketing intern during their Brighton Digital Festival period.
I had heard of Wired Sussex and its success through peers who had secured their careers through their recruitment services or training facilities- and the Brighton Digital Festival is amazing every year. It goes without saying that I didn’t hesitate to apply.
As soon as I stepped through the door of The FuseBox Brighton for my interview I was welcomed by lovely staff and such an amazing bright space. I was later called to be offered the internship with yay’s and woohoo’s in the background.
Being able to complete this internship with Wired Sussex has provided me with an infinite amount of skills and experiences. The team’s positive and friendly attitude meant I always felt part of the team. I was lucky enough to work on some amazing and interesting events such as the ConnectedTV Brighton conference where I had the chance to meet inspiring professionals from some of the biggest digital media companies, not just in England but around the world.
I was given the unique opportunity to help in the preparation of the Creative, Digital & IT Open Studios 2013. This experience alone has given me skills in design, marketing, event management and much more. Being able to meet all 22 participating companies provided great networking opportunities and showed me how Brighton has grown into a great Digital Media City.
There was so many great events that I had the opportunity to visit and work on that if I was to list them all I would be here all day.
It was great to be part of such a vibrant and successful festival as well as part of Wired Sussex and although I had completed internships before, this internship was the most beneficial in terms of developing my skills, knowledge and experience within the digital media industry.
It’s safe to say I don’t want to leave.
Thank you very much to Wired Sussex for giving me this opportunity and for being such a lovely bunch of people to work with for the past 2 months. Hopefully I will be able to work with you again in the future
