Living Wage leaders, the HR Digital Media Group and Tackling the Skills Gap.

Wired Sussex Members are leading the way in the Brighton and Hove Living Wage campaign!

23% of the Living Wage campaign employers in the city are Wired Sussex members!  Good work.  Many more could sign up though.  The campaign has nearly 200 companies signed up and it would be great if the 200th Company was a Wired Sussex member. Wired Sussex are signed up and we pay our interns and events assistants at least £7.85 an hour.

Here’s why Wired Sussex members support the Living Wage:

CST Group Limited say, “We’ve always recognised that our staff are our greatest asset, and have always paid even the most junior of them well above the Living Wage. To do anything else just wouldn’t feel right.”

Find out more and sign up here if you’re already a Living Wage Employer.

The next HR Digital Media Group is on the 19th March at Madgex, 9.15-11.15am.

I’m looking forward to hearing from Annabel Shilton, from Spirit in Business who will be speaking to us about:

“Communication, communication, communication sits at the heart of effective leadership and effective organisations, yet it is often not given enough attention and can be poorly delivered.

The talk will include:

• How to be a more effective communicator
• Discover different ways to get your message across
• Understand why staff become disengaged and what you can do to change this

If you manage HR for your company it would be great to see you there.

Tackling the Skills Gap

We're aware that we have a skills shortage in the sector, especially in mid range roles and developers, so we're holding a positive event for you.   The Digital Skills Summit on the 23rd March will bring together businesses and skills providers, to identify and work to address the skills gaps that are prominent within our sector.

At this practical event we will be identifying the skills gaps within our industry’s talent market, discussing methods of best practice for retention, continuous learning opportunities and looking at how the relationship between skills providers and businesses can positively affect the gap.  We’ll have lightening talks from local companies doing good things & a range of workshops including one coordinated by me about how we can attract talent to Brighton.  It would be good to see you there.

If you want to meet for a cuppa and a chat anytime, drop me an e-mail to kelly@wiredsussex.com or give me a call on 01273 692888.
