Are you a freelancer?

If so, here’s how joining Wired Sussex can help you develop your business.

With an expanding membership base of 448 freelancers (not including the many ‘freelancers with a brand’ who’re registered as companies) I thought it would be worthwhile to run through the specific benefits of Wired Sussex membership that can help you to grow and develop your business.

Projects Board:
A significant benefit of joining Wired Sussex is getting to hear about the latest fixed-term and project work opportunities by accessing our exclusive projects board.

Anyone - from local boutiques to multinational agencies - can post project details on the board so the projects range greatly, with everything from product photography to e-Commerce platforms builds. However, what they all have in common is a need for digital and media experts. To access the details of each project you must be a Wired Sussex member.

On average we see around 30 new projects listed a month; that’s fresh opportunities for you to access new clients and pitch for work, every day.  Why not take a look at what’s currently available?

____

Directory:
As a Wired Sussex member you can be listed on our Business directory. This is a great place to showcase your latest work, display client testimonials, and increase your Google discoverability by embedding meta-tags to help people find and connect with you.

Check this blog post for tips on getting your account fixed up and looking sharp.

Research into the cluster:
By supporting Wired Sussex you are helping to support the digital freelance community as a whole.
Over the past year we have coordinated extensive, empirical research into Brighton’s freelance community as part of the Brighton Fuse Project.

This research was undertaken to raise awareness of Brighton’s freelance community and its considerable value. The report also outlines policy recommendations for facilitating and stimulating growth by addressing some of the misconceptions, barriers and challenges you face, to encourage more effective future policy-making.

You can read the full report here .

_____

Member News:
Let Wired Sussex shout about your achievements and latest news.

Adding news to our site is simple to do and free to all Wired Sussex members. It’s a great place to gain visibility for your latest press release, news story or product launch, for free.

Every item you post will be featured on our website homepage, added to our RSS feed and considered for inclusion in our monthly newsletter!

You can add your news here or if you’d prefer you can email me a link to your RSS feed and we’ll look at embedding it directly onto our website.

____

CoWorking:
We recognise there’s a real shortage of office and shared working spaces around the city – one of the ways we’ve been working to address this issue is though our direct involvement and support of The Skiff – a fantastic coworking space in central Brighton.

The Skiff offers a wide range of desk plans and meeting space for freelancers and, perhaps even more importantly, a sense of community. Skiffmates regularly collaborate on projects, share knowledge and even hold event and games nights together.

We resource and support the space as we recognise it’s such an important asset for freelancers.

_____

Events & Networking:
We run a full and exciting programme of events that you can benefit from as a freelance member.

Our quarterly members’ meetup offers you the chance to connect with others working in the creative, digital & tech. sector. On average we see around 100-150 members in attendance each time, so there’s always new, valuable contacts and some fun to be had. The next meetup is on the 21st April at Osho Social, which you can register for here.

We also run events specifically for freelancers, entitled: our ‘Breakfast Workshop: Being a Successful Freelancer’.

These inspiring events provide hints, tips and best practice advice from experienced freelancers and a forum for open discussion and ideas sharing. The next workshop is happening in May and you can email Laura for more details as they are confirmed.

So, if you’re a freelancer and interested in finding out more about Wired Sussex then be sure to check out the benefits of membership and just drop me an email if you have any specific questions or fancy a chat.
