As part of our Digital Catapult Centre Brighton programme we are offering residencies and support to start-ups, innovators and creatives who are working in Virtual Reality.
What does Digital Catapult Centre Brighton do?
The Digital Catapult Center Brighton runs a series of projects and events which support businesses to develop and release new products and services to market. We have developed a number of themes of focus which currently include ‘Retail Innovation’, ‘Positive Ageing’ ‘Smart Places’ and explore emerging technologies such as Internet of Things, Virtual Reality, 5G and Blockchain.
At the centre we support a cohort of businesses who are developing new products and services connected to our themes. We provide a platform for collaborative activity (sharing of knowledge, challenges, ideas) and 1-2-1 support when needed.
What does a Digital Catapult Centre Brighton Residency mean?
Being a resident is more than just having the use of a creative innovation space. As a resident you become part of our community where you are able to share expertise, learn from, and collaborate with your peers; and access knowledge, expertise and resources.
Here, you can work on your own projects, meet with guests, network, collaborate and showcase your products and ideas – all of which is intended to support you in getting your product or market as soon as possible.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for residents who:
- Work in or across Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality
- Are interested in discussing, developing and sharing ideas for new projects, products or services
- Have a keen interest in collaborating with other residents discussing, developing and sharing ideas and expertise; and are committed to engaging in a collaborative work space and ethic.
- Are individuals or part of small teams

Become part of our alumni. We want to keep strong ties with past residents so will always make sure we stay in touch with news, opportunities and exclusive invites to events.
What we need in return
Be collaborative: Our residencies aren’t about working in silos on your project (although we do understand the need to sometime just focus on your own work). We expect that residents to be curious and interested in other resident’s work and to share and talk about their ideas with others when asked. There will mechanisms such as monthly check in which we expect residencies to participate in.
Be here: In order to make the most of the residency we need you to be here so we ask that as a guide residents are present in the space for at least 15 hours per week
Be an ambassador: We want to people to act as advocates for our (and their) Catapult. We want to engage as many people with the Catapult as possible and our residents are a great way for us to share what we are doing.
Be engaged and be helpful We run events and activities and want our residents to engage and participate in. We would also like engagement with our social media streams. We encourage our residents to help and support each other whether this is sharing expertise or making fellow residents a cup of tea.
