Last Tuesday evening we held another of our 'community check-in' events in Bognor Regis. We’re working with West Sussex County Council and Hemingway Design to launch a creative hub in the old waiting rooms at Bognor Regis station and this event was an opportunity to share our progress so far with the local creative community. There was a good turn out for what proved to be a fun night of hearing people's views and exchanging ideas. We will be holding more of these events over the coming months so keep an eye out for the dates and venues as we announce them.
The evening started with a short introduction to the background of the project, with Anne De Sausmarez from West Sussex County Council’s economic development team giving us an update on the development of the space. We then heard from Jack Hemingway of Hemingway Design, who presented the proposed new brand name and visual identity, along with initial designs for the hub’s interior. It was the first time this work had been seen by the community and it sparked a fantastic discussion about the day-to-day workings of the space and how it will benefit the freelance and business community, as well as the town as a whole.
It was great to witness the community’s passion for Bognor Regis and commitment to the project and also to have Anne and Jack’s input at the event to answer questions about the development plans.
Then it was playtime. As a group we got stuck into the coloured pens, paper, play-do and post-it notes to share and celebrate the people, places and activities that make-up the creative history of Bognor Regis.
The results were inspiring and have given us some great take-outs about what’s important to the creative community in Bognor Regis which we'll share at the next event. We’ll confirm the date and venue for that event in the newsletter - so please make sure you sign up and keep in touch.
