All about the Talent2017 Experience Day

The digital and creative economy is worth nearly as much to Brighton as the tourist economy - a fact that is a bit of a surprise to many of the people who live here.

A thriving sector, that provides stimulating, well paid jobs with a lower risk of automation or obsolescence in the future is right here on the doorsteps of the 60,000* children and young people living in our city.

So it makes sense that we build connections between the sector and educators and help make young people aware of the opportunities that lie before them.

The third day of our Talent2017 skills festival is designed to do just that. We’re finding groups of young people of different ages from around the city and matching them with local digital businesses. Each company will host a half day experience designed to show off the work they do in a fun, interactive way. Our aim is for the young people to leave with an insight into what it’s like to work in the digital industry, to feel inspired to join us and also to understand the learning choices they need to make in order to do so. It’s a great way for businesses to help their employees get better at describing what they do, develop event planning and facilitation skills - and build connections in the community that will help grow the local talent pipeline for the future.

We’ve still got a few slots left so if this sounds like something you’d like to get involved with then get in touch with jenni@wiredsussex.com.
