Talent Talks: Futrli

In this month's Talent Talks - a series where we speak to member companies who are currently advertising on our Jobs Board - we caught up with some of the faces behind Futrli, the multi-award-winning financial intelligence application that has featured in nation-wide media and is quickly shaking up an industry.

If you want to join a highly motivated team of dedicated co-workers passionate about innovative products, read on for a behind-the-scenes look at their company and to find out what they look for when hiring.

What opportunities are there for career progression at Futrli?

Hanna Smith: It's a really exciting time for us at Futrli, now we’ve secured a large round of funding. We’re growing fast in a number of different global locations. To get this right, we’re looking to bring in a range of experts that can help us develop and scale our product.

Over the next year or so, we’re looking to double in size. We’re on the hunt for people who can develop and grow with the team.

We’re investing a lot of time and care into our staff to ensure there are really strong learning and development plans and a progression structure in place within the business.

What do you look for when interviewing someone for your team?

Leanne Da Silva: We’re passionate about the product we’re building and looking for people who can help move this forward, so we want people with a real spark and energy about them. Ambition and honesty are key.

It’s fast-paced here, so we want people who can contribute, collaborate and learn with us and ultimately, we want people who’re better than us, so we can also learn from them! We often present candidates with a challenge in their interviews to gauge how they might approach a problem. It’s important to find critical thinkers to help build a creative and contributive environment.

With our engineering hires, we want people with a real passion for tech and code. We are constantly iterating the product, and work on the latest tech stacks in the industry.

How would you describe a typical working day?

Chris Evans: There’s no typical day and often the mornings comprise of stand-ups and morning progress meetings. We have a purely agile approach, so we are constantly updating or reviewing feedback. We also have a flexible approach to work with a flexitime policy, as we trust our employees to take ownership of their roles.

We’re also a really social bunch and often go for team lunch together, or meet socially after work with board games or beers down at the local pub. We have a huge celebratory culture.

What experience do you need to have?

Gessica Puglielli: I started as a Graphic Designer in 1998, working for some of the major advertising companies in Milan. I joined Futrli as part of the product development team and my role is centred around designing and re-designing new features to improve the usability of the product.

At the moment we’re looking for people who can add to our team skill set as we’re growing at such a great rate. Generally, though, we don’t put a number on experience. We’re looking for people that have achieved great things - whatever that may be relevant to the role and us.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

It’s great getting the opportunity to shape an industry. There’s a strong team sense and whenever we achieve something it is celebrated. It’s great having flexibility and ownership over my role and I genuinely enjoy coming into work every day!
