One Year After Launch: Are You Making the Most of Our Website?

Today marks our website’s first birthday! We’re thrilled to see how much our website has helped our community over the last year. It was designed with our members at the forefront, and so far it’s provided a platform for you, our thriving network of companies and freelancers, to share:

  • 375+ news items and showcases, spreading the word about what everyone’s been up to within our local digital community.
  • 730+ job listings on our sector-specific Jobs site, helping to connect recruiting members with the best talent from across Brighton and beyond.
  • 140+ commissions and briefs, inspiring and enabling countless collaborations between businesses.
  • 625+ events on our Events calendar, bringing those in Sussex’s digital cluster together to build their expertise and learn from one another.

And of course, our website is constantly evolving to better serve our community - for example, we’ve recently added a dedicated section for online events in response to the influx of virtual programming.

So how can you make the most of our website? Here are our top 5 tips:

1. Enhance your business profile

Our updated member directory has so many more options to make your business stand out, with the ability to add photos, graphics and videos. It’s a simple place to start, but why not take a look at how your account currently looks, and give it a bit of a spruce up?

Update your profile picture and header image and spend some time looking at your ‘about’ section to make sure that it’s the best representation of your business for those looking to contact you about potential work and commissions.

2. Build a portfolio of your work

One of our favourite features of our website is the new Showcases section, which allows you to highlight and share your work with other members, the community and prospective clients.

Perhaps it's a collaboration with a well-known client or a big project you’re proud of. Create a showcase and spread the word, you never know who might see your work and want to commission you.

3. Share your news and success stories

Similarly, our website is a great place to share your news and keep the community updated on what’s been happening in your business. Whether it’s awards, new team members, clients or product launches, share your achievements and get your name out there.

4. Find talent and workspaces for your growing business

We’re so proud of our sector-specific Jobs site, where you can showcase your employer brand with a built-in, enhanced company profile to a local and national network of job seekers, and get access to our database of CVs from skilled industry professionals to cherry-pick your ideal candidates.

And, once you’ve hired, we also have a page to search for workspaces, with newly enhanced listings including images and video tours of your next office, studio or desk space.

5. Browse our events and keep your finger on the pulse

Did you know we have an Events calendar packed with Sussex-based events and meetups created for the digital, media and tech community, by the community? It’s a useful resource to find opportunities to connect with peers and grow your skills and knowledge. Plus, if you’re running an event for those in the sector, it’s a great way to reach a wider audience. Add your event today.

We hope you’ve found our website updates useful over the past year, and we can’t thank you all enough for making it possible.
