Kickstart Placements at Wired Sussex

We are offering two Kickstart placements for 18-24 year olds to start their career in the digital sector.

Wired Sussex provides support to the region’s digital, media and technology businesses, helping them to start, scale and succeed.

We run an innovation centre, The FuseBox. Based 10 minutes walk from Brighton station, the FuseBox provides collaborative R&D spaces and access to expertise and technology to individuals, start-ups, large companies and project teams.  It hosts a 5G testbed, an immersive content lab and an events space. The FuseBox is where we help people with interesting and imaginative ideas to make them real.

We’re looking for two bright, friendly and reliable individuals with a strong interest in technology and innovation to act as studio assistants in the space.

You will learn how to support our events, residents and projects, as well as how to ensure that the FuseBox functions safely and efficiently. We offer training and support, including practical 1-2-1 guidance from our Innovation and Technology Manager. The Wired Sussex team will also provide practical support and advice to help you develop your CV and online presence for future job applications.

  • Learn to set-up kit for virtual events and assist on the delivery of any events that require extra support
  • Learn new skills such as filming, editing and video production.
  • Learn how to assist with kit inductions and technology demonstrations for new residents and visitors to the space.
  • Be trained in our space management software, learning how to book rooms and equipment and ensuring all FuseBox user details are collated and kept updated
  • Learn how to respond to enquiries from residents, applicants, project partners, and others regarding the equipment and its uses.
  • Learn how to open up and prepare the FuseBox space for residents each morning and close down safely each evening.
  • Gain broader IT training by shadowing the support of the Wired Sussex team’s IT needs.
  • Attend our events and learn more about the digital community in Brighton and the work it is doing.

We are a small and friendly team based right around the corner from North Laine in a creative and collaborative workspace.

We are committed to be creating a diverse and inclusive workforce and we believe that anyone should be able to build a fulfilling career in our digital, media and tech sector.
