Catch up with Wired Sussex's Skills Summit 2022

The Wired Sussex Skills Summit is an intimate one-day peer-to-peer conference, where CEOs, creative leads and start-up founders join inspiring leaders and thinkers for a conversation about our sector’s biggest business challenges.

We'd like to thank everyone who joined us for the Skills Summit this year, especially our fantastic speakers and our sponsors Plus Accounting. It was fantastic to bring our community of leaders together to discuss the challenges they're facing and share best practices.

Catch up on the talks from our speakers, Chris Pearce, CEO at Clearleft, Luke Taylor, Creative Partner and Co-Founder of UnitedUs and Prof. Helen Kennedy, Professor of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Nottingham.

Hear from our Keynote Speaker, Chris Pearce, CEO at Clearleft

'Adapt or Die...Leading at Speed into the Unknown'

Chris was a serial CEO, first at TMW Unlimited, then at MRM (McCann Relationship Marketing, part of the Interpublic Group). He's now helping to shape Clearleft’s vision for at least the next decade. In his keynote, hear more about his experiences and journey to his new role at Clearleft, and the challenges he's facing.

Hear from our guest speaker, Prof. Helen Kennedy, Professor of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Nottingham.

'Creating Space for Inclusive Leadership'

In this talk, get insights from leadership initiatives aimed at supporting greater inclusion in challenging contexts – such as VR, games, and the broader creative and cultural sector. Helen reflects on how creative leadership approaches can help to nurture talent, promote diversity and improve retention.

Hear from our guest speaker, Luke Taylor, Creative Partner and co-founder at UnitedUs

‘Fundamentals. Why they matter more than ever.’

Luke will be giving a presentation on the need for fundamentals in our working lives, the importance they play in building an aligned workforce and what employers can do to build culture consistently in their businesses.

World Cafe Workshop

We closed the day with a World Cafe-style workshop, facilitated by Prof.Helen Kennedy, talking through the challenges our sector is facing - from recruitment to hybrid working and the skills shortage, and the ways we can tackle these as a community of leaders, through sharing best practice.
