WordPress/PHP Developer for research project website build

About the brief

We are currently developing the digital platforms for two exciting international Gender Equality research projects. We are seeking early career developers to help build and develop the projects' communications platforms which publish research and are a key advocacy tool for their work.

This short term project will be involved in all aspects of the two site builds; including setting up information architecture, templating and developing bespoke functionality.

We are looking for highly motivated, independent and organised WordPress-friendly developers to support us in the delivery of these sites and would be a perfect project for someone wanting to gain experience being involved from the outset of a project and build their experience and portfolio.

This work will primarily be in October and November 2020. We anticipate about 20 days work per project over the 2 months, so some flexibility of working days would be appreciated. As the projects continue, there will also be the possibility of more work in the period up to March 2021. As there is some technical cross over with the sites, so we would be open to one person working on both sites.

Responsibilities include:

*WordPress front and backend development and support

*Bespoke PHP coding

*Deployment and configuration of WordPress custom plugins

*Work with other team members & researchers on platform / website

Required skills:

*Proven experience developing bespoke WordPress sites

*Good knowledge of HTML5/CSS, PHP, JavaScript/jQuery, SASS

*Knowledge of best practices for web performance, usability, SEO, security and data privacy

*Good communicator

*A demonstrable ability to proactively manage tasks, projects and issues


*Exposure to Agile project management processes

*Understanding of version control

*UI/UX Skills

*Experience of working with medium/large information management systems/repositories

Due to the ongoing pandemic, We Are Potential are currently operating in fully remote capacity. Additional online support will be provided, especially during the early phases of this project.
