Four sessions; 40 speakers; 1,500 attendees – the story of BrightonSEO

1,500 digital marketing enthusiasts convened on the Brighton Dome on September Friday 13th as the prestigious venue played host to the biggest ever BrightonSEO Conference. The event welcomed over 40 speakers including Oliver Snoddy, Head of Planning at Twitter UK; Adriano Accardo, Agency Industry Manager at Google UK; Paul Plunkett, Assistant Editor at BBC Sport interactive; and Lisa Myers, CEO of Verve Search.

The popularity of the event, hosted by digital marketing agency SiteVisibility, once again resulted in #brightonseo trending on Twitter following the amount of live tweets occurring on the day by both attendees and the speakers themselves. The day prior to the conference, show organisers programmed a day of hands on training workshops that explored the issues facing the digital marketing industry. These included:

• Advanced Google Analytics

• Advanced Link Building

• Creating Awesome Infographics

• Local SEO Training

• Mobile SEO

• Penalty Recovery and Future proofing SEO Strategies

• Video SEO

Following the workshops, a number of intimate roundtable sessions were held to allow people working in similar roles to share and discuss ideas.

And for the first time at the BrightonSEO Conference, a Speed Mentoring Session was introduced. Sponsored by Verve Search, the lightening talks ran in the main hall during the last session of the day and offered attendees the chance to ask specific questions or advice from industry experts. These included Natasha Woodford, Co-Founder at ClockworkTalent who discussed the issues surrounding making your first hire and growing your team; Lisa Myers, CEO at Verve Search who looked at raising your profile in the industry; and Jose Truchado, Director of SEO at Expedia, who shared his expertise on management and leadership.

The SiteVisibility team also launched a competition prior to the event where one lucky winner could win Brighton Wheel Champagne Experience tickets. Contestants had to tweet in their shock SEO related headlines. The winning tweet came from Tony Dimmock who said: “* Breaking * New Law Passed: "Marriage ceremonies to be changed allowing SEO's to dis a vow before tying knot" #brightonseo.”

Kelvin Newman, SiteVisibility Director of Strategy, comments: “Our conference has evolved rapidly over the past three years or so and continues to ensure attendees are engaged throughout and take part in some notable debates which impact them and our industry. The landscape of SEO is changing and changing quickly. Our workshops, roundtables and agenda of guest speakers are all there to ensure attendees are kept abreast of the issues we, and our relevant vertical sectors, are faced with now and in the future. We’d like to thank all of our army of hardcore attendees; guest speakers and of course, our event sponsors.”
