Ex-New Media Age journalist launches PR consultancy for digital businesses

Ex-New Media Age journalist Claire Armitt has launched a communications consultancy specialising in PR for businesses working in the online space.

flannel opened its doors in Brighton earlier this year. It’s helping web design, email, online gaming and ecommerce companies, among others, to bring in new business via quality, targeted press coverage.

The bulk of the work flannel does is B2B PR.

“During my time as a journalist, I saw a need in the online industry for expert, no-nonsense, one-to-one PR consultancy,” said Claire Armitt, Director of flannel. “Too many companies were promising unrealistic results and had sketchy knowledge of their clients’ sectors. flannel works with businesses in the online space because we are experts in this field. PR strategies are approached intelligently - backed up by years of industry experience and knowledge of both journalism and PR - and to date have produced excellent ROI for clients.”

Companies that work with flannel often want to build a public profile in the trade or consumer press, and raise brand awareness by shouting about what they do to a wider audience.

Recent clients include email specialist Pure, online games site Freeloader, hair and beauty ecommerce site and e-learning company Academy Internet.
