One week left to help digital artists Blast Theory kickstart 'Karen'

Brighton-based Blast Theory have just one week left to raise to raise the final £4,300 needed to fund the development of Karen, an artistic app mixing games, storytelling and psychological profiling in a way that has never been done before.

Can you help us make this exciting new digital project a reality?

We are a 4-times BAFTA-nominated artists' group who use interactive media to create new art forms that mix audiences across the internet, live performance and digital broadcasting. We've shown work everywhere from the Sundance Film Festival to the Venice Biennale.

The Karen app is a new departure for Blast Theory. When you launch it, you meet Karen, who is a life coach. You interact with her via touch and text. As she gets to know you she gets more and more friendly, maybe too friendly. How does she know so much about you?

In fact, the app is using psychological profiling techniques in the background. Like Facebook, the app also monitors your every move, harvesting data such as your messages and your location to personalise your experience.

We are running a Kickstarter campaign to raise the £15,000 needed to develop the app and have so far raised £10,700. We will only receive the money pledged if we raise the full amount by 5th November.

We have a range of great rewards for backers, including access to all the design codes and source documents and the opportunity to get involved as a beta tester. Find out more and add your pledge on

You can also help by spreading the word to your networks through Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you from everyone at Blast Theory
