Closing soon - STEP-UP Programme

Applications to Step-Up are scheduled to close at the end of April 2021. However, places are filling up fast, so please apply soon if you would like to take part.

The University of Brighton and the University of Sussex, working in partnership and with funding from the European Social Fund, are pleased to introduce you to an exciting new training and internship programme.
STEP-UP is an innovative fast-track training programme for local SMEs that will allow them to identify the skills they need, and access talented graduates to help them grow their business through fully funded six-week internships.

Our offer to you:

Joining the Step-Up programme will give you a fully-funded graduate intern for six weeks in summer 2021, plus access to specialist masterclasses hosted by subject and industry experts – all at no cost to you.

By taking part, you and the staff from your organisation will benefit from attending up to four free online masterclasses between February and May 2021. Additionally, there will be two recorded masterclasses we will send you to watch in your own time.

Masterclasses will cover key areas around recruiting, retaining, and upskilling staff.

  • Working with your local universities
  • Managing your talent pipeline and making the most from your graduate intern
  • Internship onboarding
  • Creating your Step-Up internship
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Introduction to Action Learning Sets

Following the masterclass series, you will create an internship proposition and take on a fully-funded graduate intern for six weeks in summer 2021. Successful student applicants will have completed a series of employability workshops, which cover key skills and areas of knowledge identified by SMEs as being in short supply.

For more information on the programme and instructions on how to apply for place, head to the dedicated website.
