Legal & General Host Networking Event in VR

Colleagues at Legal & General were able to meet in their Hove office without leaving the comfort of their homes…

By experimenting with virtual collaboration platform Mozilla Hubs, they hosted their host regular networking event in virtual reality (VR).

As part of our ongoing partnership, Wired Sussex was able to work with Legal & General to create a space which reflected the collaboration area in their Hove City Park office so that it felt like colleagues were really there.

This was an experiment to see how virtual collaboration platforms could help colleagues to connect virtually in this new world.

Colleagues were sent a virtual reality headset for the session which added to the immersive experience.

Steve Barry from Legal & General, who attended the event, said:

The networking event held in VR was impressive and immersive. This could revolutionise how we work and collaborate online.

Phil Anderson, Legal & General Hove Location Director, said:

Exploring how emerging technologies can enhance the experience for our colleagues is an area we’re keen to explore. Our partnership with Wired Sussex is giving us the opportunity to do this in really fun, new and exciting ways. This was the first event of this kind but we’re hopeful it won’t be the last.

Chris Chowen, Emerging Technologies Co-ordinator from Wired Sussex, added:

It was great to work with Legal & General, re-creating their Hove office in virtual reality to bring colleagues together. I was impressed with how open the team was, to trying something new. The session went really well. I look forward to working with Legal & General to continue to use immersive tech in exciting ways.
