The Challenge

A ‘Go Explore’ guide for Wild Coast Sussex, part of the Sussex Wildlife Trust. Wild Coast Sussex is an innovative project, inspiring local communities to address the issues of plastic waste and coastal health through a wide range of activities.

The Results

The Wild Coast Sussex ‘Discovery’ brand identity we created flexes for families and children in the ‘Go Explore’ guide. Printed sustainably by our B Corp certified print partner, it showcases the curious elements of the brand, integrated with the charity’s photography. The focus is to engage and educate the younger audience, inspiring a new generation of champions to ensure the beauty and importance of the Sussex coastal ecosystem is recognised.

Designed to be distinct and stand out, the guide brings to life all the exciting ways to discover the local coast and how to get involved.

The guide includes a sensory page where young explorers can draw what they see, smell, touch, hear and taste, alongside coastal maps created in a bold, contemporary style with walking trails that can be scanned by smart phone for a map of the route.

Photography is featured in rock shapes to add another connection to our coastline and a playful illustrated ‘Chroma the Cuttlefish’ character helps the younger audience through the guide with interesting facts and tips to help them learn and get the most out of any trip to the coast.

Distributed all across Sussex, the guide features bold typography, impactful graphic marine creatures and a vivid spot colour combined with a contrasting, rich printed black for extra standout when sitting alongside other similar communications.

Echoing the Wild Coast Sussex brand key messages, the guide encourages communities to make positive lifestyle choices and to change their behaviours, to make a real difference to the crisis in the health of the sea. The bold brand creates intrigue and supports Wild Coast Sussex in connecting people with nature, for better mental health and a sustainable future.
