The Challenge

The client had chosen the name Eriu, named after the Irish goddess who gave her name to Ireland (Eire). Unbound by genre, all their books have a connection to Ireland.

With a broad audience, spanning adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction, Eriu needed a modern and distinct identity that would appeal to all and reflect their values of being creative, professional, trustworthy, agile and unique.

The Results

We created the ‘book of Eriu’ using the ‘e’ from the carefully considered typeface, elongated to create a book symbol, which can be stacked and rearranged in communications and sits directly over the name on the spine of a book.

The typeface is modern, clear and appealing to a wide audience. The colours Purple and Wheat complement each other and provide a refreshing choice.

Eriu’s debut publication, with the newly unveiled imprint, landed an Irish number one in non-fiction with Every Day is a Fresh Beginning: Meaningful Poems for Life, selected by Irish actor and influencer Aoibhín Garrihy.
