Giving Poetry Wings Exhibition

Mon 14 Oct 2019
Jubilee Libary, Brighton

About the event

An augmented reality/digital exhibition which will showcase collaborative work between poets and digital artists via the Artivive app.

The exhibition will be a result of a hackathon featuring workshops designed to create a space for poets to have their work developed beyond text/paper/spoken word and for digital artists to create new themed work inspired by literature.

This exhibition is part of neXus - a transnational creative exchange between Brighton and Bloemfontein in South Africa that introduces the talents of artists from each region exploring real and imagined social, political and cultural connections.

The exhibition will be spread across two venues. As well as the exhibition at Jubilee Library, there will also be a digital screen at Afro Hair Academy (50 Queens Road, Brighton BN1 3XG).

Curated by Jenni Lewin-Turner and Thuthukani Ndlovu, 'Giving Poetry Wings' exhibition is a Brighton Digital Festival 2019 Grassroots Award Winner (sponsored by Brandwatch and supported by Arts Council England).

This event is for the general public to access regardless of background, but the themes will have particular resonance with People of Colour (Poc) and the exhibition is timed to also coincide with Black History Month.

This exhibition will run from 14th October to 25th October.
