How to Succeed at Freelancing (Without Burning Out!)

Wed 26 Feb 2020
09:00 - 11:00
The FuseBox, Brighton

About the event

Whether you are new to freelancing and struggling to adapt, or a seasoned professional feeling fatigued; come along to our next Breakfast Session where we’ll share tips and advice to help grow your freelance business and the pitfalls to avoid that can lead to burnout.

When people talk about self-employment, we often hear about the freedom, opportunity, and flexibility it can bring from running your own business. Whilst true, what’s sometimes less spoken about are the realities this can also entail: long hours, pressures to overcommit to work, feelings of isolation and the weight that comes from ensuring all aspects of the business are running correctly.

This session will explore strategies to help combat this, such as defining your niche, establishing good working relationships with clients, effectively managing your time and the importance of self-care.

So, if you want to discuss these issues and learn from other freelancers, join us for our next Breakfast Session.

Helping to lead the session will be:

Lizzie Davey, SaaS, eCommerce, and Digital Marketing Writer and Content Consultant

Lizzie works with innovative companies to help them reach their ideal audiences, by crafting laser-focused copy and shareable content. Her articles have featured across leading marketing sites, including: Media Examiner, Zapier to SEMRush.

Sara Brunettini, Web & UX Designer

Sara is a designer working across visual identity, web design and product design. She has worked for important design agencies in Milan, where she is originally from. Four years ago, she relocated to Brighton looking for a new challenge and to develop her design skills. She recently moved from freelancing to growing her practice from the sidelines alongside a full-time job. She will be sharing her experiences that led to making this change and the impact it’s had on her freelance business.

Becky Palmer, Digital Producer

Becky is a freelance digital producer with over 20 years’ experience working in digital media, including 10 years as a senior producer in the BBC. She has been freelance for 10 years and specialises in creating fun digital experiences, focusing on scientific content and children's products. She has worked across major brands including: Peppa Pig, Sesame St, CBeebies, Horrible Histories, Morph and Aliens Love Underpants.
