Why drama video is the best way to challenge unconscious bias

Thu 16 Jul 2020
10:30 - 11:30

About the event

People can’t absorb information effortlessly, it takes hard work and application. But drama allows you to “effortlessly” walk through a learning dialectic as you look through the eyes of characters in a conflict. Drama can be visual, but more importantly, it’s emotional. Understanding the emotional impact of bias and inequity is the essential motivator for change.

This webinar will explore the strengths of drama in the context of diversity and inclusion, particularly unconscious bias. We welcome an Anita Sullivan (scriptwriter and learning designer), Dawn Lewinson (D&I training specialist), and Georgia Rooney (video producer) who will discuss the theory and practical application of dramatic storytelling to explore diversity and inclusion in a corporate setting.

What you will get from this webinar:

  • An understanding of how drama video can challenge unconscious bias
  • An insight into the scripting and filmmaking techniques that work
  • Case study examples of drama being used to challenge unconscious bias

This webinar is for learning and development professionals who have an interest in:

  • Diversity and inclusion education in the workplace
  • The use of video drama as a learning tool
  • Workplace culture and change management
