About the event

Meet The Makers - 5G:XR From Brighton & Istanbul image

5G is predicted to have a huge impact on the way culture is made and shared, locally and internationally, face-to-face and virtually. Reduced latency, increased reliability and the ability to connect with many more people simultaneously opens up the possibility of new digital and hybrid digital/physical experiences.

This creates the potential for new collaborations between makers and producers across theatre, performing arts, festivals, games and digital media.

5G:XR is an international collaborative research project that aims to find out more about the possibilities for cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration.

If you are a maker, producer or academic working in performing arts, games design and everything in-between then come and join us for an afternoon of inspiring conversation and discussion about what can be learned from performing arts/ festival practice and games design for the hybrid XR experiences of the future.

Once you have signed up for a space on the workshop, you will be sent a link on 2 Nov to a series of provocations and presentations so that you can watch these in your own time before the workshop session.

This event is for:

  • Artists
  • Producers
  • Technologists
  • Academics
  • Anyone interested in 5G:XR

This workshop will be held in English and/or Turkish.

The project is led by the University of Brighton working with Wired Sussex, Brunel University, Bahcesehir University, Istanbul Bilgi University, and Tiyatro Kooperatif and is supported by the AHRC and Newton Fund.
