As we move into a post Brexit, post-Covid world, what can leaders do to ensure that they are doing all they can to attract, retain and recruit the best talent to the Sussex region and the digital, creative and tech sector?

  • How can leaders attract and retain more diverse teams?
  • How do leaders who face challenges themselves, keep clear on their vision?
  • How can we all support women and minorities within the sector?

This event will be live-streamed - join in and ask your questions via the live chat on Youtube.

Free and open to all

Women and people from an ethnic minority background have been among the most affected by the pandemic and the economic fallout. Given they represent three-quarters of the part-time labour force, women were hit hard when part-time jobs fell 70% in the first eleven weeks of the pandemic. Mothers have been 47% more likely to lose their jobs than fathers, according to the Institute of Fiscal Studies. BAME communities are much more likely to be affected by COVID-19.

Our Speakers

Jonathan Malyon, Tilt

Jonathan is Managing Director at the award-winning full-service creative agency Tilt. They specialise in crafting digital experiences that change behaviours through the use of design, interactive, motion graphics and film, and they’ve worked with big-name brands like Reuters, Diageo, Nickelodeon and Frontline Aids.

Jonathan is passionate about creating an inclusive environment at the agency, which has worked with many organisations on Diversity and Inclusion campaigns, from Deloitte to Barclays:

In our experience, you can tell people about subjects like diversity and inclusion until you’re blue in the face … yet very little will change. It’s not until you make people feel something that you’re on the path to changing behaviour.

Chris Ricketts, Turn10

Chris is founder and Director at Turn10 Consulting in Brighton. He has almost 25 years’ experience in this area, working both in-house and in consulting roles across a range of sectors. Before setting up Turn10, Chris was Director of Talent & Organisational Development for eBay’s platforms in the EU with global responsibility for their classified businesses such as Gumtree and StubHub.

Mariam Crichton, 4 Earth Intelligence

Mariam has been the entrepreneurial driving force in the growth of many startups over the last 16 years and a board-level shareholder of several. Her innovative technology leadership expertise lies in product innovation in GIS, SAAS, Software, Mobile Design and Development.

She's passionate about promoting both leadership skills and diversity in the wider Technology community and is currently the only woman of colour to hold a Managing Director position within the UK geospatial sector.

Talent Fest 2021

Talent Fest is a five-day event to boost our region’s thriving digital industry; helping businesses hire, nurture and keep the most talented people – the people we need, to grow and deliver great work.

Now that we are emerging from a year of lockdown and uncertainty, it’s time to start planning the future for digital businesses. How can we best connect jobseekers, graduates, career switchers and returners to work, from diverse backgrounds and outside of our Brighton bubble with rewarding, fulfilling work?
