Head of Product & Growth - Onhand

Brighton and Hove

Closing date: 01/08/2019

Job Description:

onHand is a start-up that allows people to give and get help, whenever and wherever they are. Our marketplace platform has enabled “on-demand volunteering” and, with over 1500 app downloads within weeks, this is an exciting moment to join us. Our focus is using the app to match volunteers with older adults who need help with basic tasks. Things like shopping, tech lessons, help around the house or simply sharing a cup of tea and having a chat. In doing so, we believe onHand can help address the growing care crisis facing our ageing population...and maybe just leave the world a better place too. We’re doing good, in a huge growth market.

As our first senior hire, you will be at the heart of everything we do to engage and onboard members of our marketplace community. You will help identify the key opportunities for growth AND the stand out opportunities to drive efficiency through product development. If we are successful, we expect to grow very quickly, expanding across the UK and then internationally. The scope for personal and professional growth for any team member joining us at this stage should be tremendous.

What we’re looking for

In a nutshell we’re interested in your attitude above anything else. Like solving problems, getting things done and not afraid to take on responsibility? Love engaging with new people and have a healthy dose of common sense? Want to help solve one of the greatest problems facing society and leave the world a better place?

It’s likely you have been working in a Product and/or Growth role for the last 2-5 years and have developed views on the approach to testing and build for an organisation at our stage. You’ll be as comfortable talking Marketing as you are Technology.

If this sounds like you, get in touch. We’d be excited to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

We are a start-up business, close to delivering our first 100 hours or service. Whilst we have an app up and running, it’s limited in functionality and our site is similarly basic. From the first 100 hours we have delivered, we think there are already signals for where development could drive efficiency and in the next 100 hours there will likely be more.

As we work towards our next funding round, we would like to build out an initial product development pipeline and to have engaged potential resource to help us begin that build. We’d like you to own that pipeline going forward.

As a start-up, it’s also fair to say you will be involved in all aspects of the business and we would envision the right person playing a significant roles in developing new partnerships.

What we offer

Brand new co-working offices in Brighton and/or flexibility to work from London. Your choice of laptop and phone. 25 days holiday a year plus bank holidays. Pension and other Bens. The role may also attract equity at the appropriate stage. The founder has a 20 year career in tech working for some of the UK’s first unicorns and launching new ventures across the US and Europe. You will work directly with him and see all aspects of running a start-up, from customer acquisition, investor engagement and tech build, to setting up the latest digital and productivity tools to ensure we operate as efficiently as possible.
