QA Test Engineer (Contract) - NetDimensions

Job Description:

We are currently looking for a contract QA Test Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity based in our offices in Brighton with initial training for up to two weeks in Hong Kong. The expenses for flights and accommodation in Hong Kong will be paid. You must have a valid passport and fulfil the visa requirements for Hong Kong, if you don’t have a passport from a visa free country.
This contract is for 3 months, but might extend. The contract can start immediately.
This is a manual testing role, but a contractor with knowledge in test automation (particularly Java and Selenium) and performance testing (Jmeter) will also be able to use these skills. However, these skills they are not a precondition.

The main role responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and executing test cases for new functionality based upon functional specifications
  • Performing manual regression checking and exploratory testing of system components
  • Ensuring that defects are reported promptly and accurately
  • Ensuring that defects are fixed and retested properly
  • Creating and maintaining test documentation and test data
  • Developing and maintaining automated tests (increasingly over time)
Skills Range:
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related subject
  • Manual testing experience against an enterprise software application
  • Well organised and self-motivated and a team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, sufficient to support test data setup

Ideally you will also have:

  • An interest in test automation, ideally in Java
  • Experience with JIRA for defect and Agile task management
  • Exposure to Selenium (for GUI tests). API testing, and Apache Jmeter (for performance tests) would be a bonus.
  • Exposure to a unit test framework, such as Junit or TestNG
  • Working knowledge of version control systems, ideally Git
  • Exposure to Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), ideally with Cucumber and Gherkin
  • Exposure to build servers, ideally Jenkins
  • Exposure to mobile application testing
  • Understanding of Linux (command line skills)
