Job Description:

Job Duties

  • Build, test, maintain and operationally own multiple DevOps tools and environments to support Digital application development and operations.
  • Support development colleagues with peer review activity as required.
  • Actively participate in agile scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, providing estimates and updates for development activity.
  • Working as part of the development team to help understand and shape business requirements.
  • Working with the development team and DevOps Lead to help devise, plan, build and document automated build pipelines and infrastructure as code.
  • Communicating problems you find to line management and product owners in a clear, detailed and helpful way, reporting progress, risks and issues, and identifying solutions.
 
Skills Range:

Qualifications: RHCSA or equivalent experience


Knowledge:

Infrastructure Design & Build

  • A general understanding of the Linux operating system (preferably Red Hat based).
  • An understanding of networking and security.
  • Experience in at least one scripting language (bash, python, ruby…).

Infrastructure Automation

  • Experience with a configuration management tooling (Puppet, Ansible).
  • An understanding of Infrastructure as code patterns and principles.
  • An interest in containers and container orchestration.

Build Automation

  • A good understanding of CI/CD principles.
  • Experience using automated build tools i.e. Jenkins.

Customer Awareness

  • A supportive, communicative and collaborative approach to working in a team.
  • An understanding of the different drivers and needs of customers, distributors and partners.

Business & Industry

  • An understanding of key organisational structures, frameworks and core processes.
  • An understanding of digital/web development or product delivery.

IT & Systems

  • An interest in technology.
  • Willingness to look at code and learn about different configuration management and automation tools.

Specific Experience

  • Working knowledge of building and maintaining large cloud based environments a bonus.
