Job Description:

We are looking for an outstanding Development manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you'll be the linchpin that enables our engineering team to deliver reliable, exceptional and safe releases, over and over again.
Our brilliant team are passionate about helping our clients to deliver effective Elearning and get the most out of our platform. You'll be joining an incredibly motivated and successful team and enabling them to be the best they can be.

 
Skills Range:

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Coaching and mentoring our exceptional engineering team of 9 people and make sure they are set up for success, and achieve it
  • Grow and scale high performance teams by hiring and retaining world class people
  • Be accountable for on-time, high quality roadmap execution
  • Be accountable for the stability and reliability of our releases and platform
  • Creating, improving and driving operational excellence, quality, security and privacy initiatives across your teams and the entire engineering organisation.
  • Strive to reinforce our stand-out culture, built around Learning, Caring and Sharing
  • Coordinate and direct teams to complete projects, including documentation and integration of technical components
  • Guide and approve financial decisions and reporting on expenditures
  • Ensure that the product is fully and correctly defined and documented
  • Analyse available technology, market needs and existing resources to determine project feasibility and risks
 
Person Specification:

The ideal person:

  • At heart you are a builder. You should love working with people and seeing them thrive - while seeing amazing things being created.
  • Three years+ in an equivalent role - you will have managed top engineering teams shipping world-class products
  • You'll love mentoring and coaching people to see them flourish, and have experience managing remote teams (half of our team work remotely in the UK)
  • You take ownership of projects and challenges that come your way and make sure that they come to a positive outcome
  • You're process and detail orientated - and love getting all your development ducks in a row
  • You're proactive and work towards goals in a clear way - and love it when you team become as extremely organised as you are
  • You have delivered significant organisational improvement in other growing Saas companies
  • Experience managing and growing cross-functional software development teams (current tech stack is based on PHP, Javascript + React, )
  • Previous experience working in a development capacity
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and inspire confidence across all business areas
  • A great sense of humour! While we work hard, we have a great time while we do it, and fitting into our culture is as important as being able to do the job.
