Red Setter is the global PR agency for design consultancies. Based in Brighton’s North Laine, our team of 22 PR professionals, journalists and senior marketers work with the world’s most exciting design agencies getting them noticed and chosen.

Our clients are all creative design agencies, delivering advertising, branding, packaging, motion graphics and digital to a wide range of sectors from FMCG to property, retail, professional services, leisure, travel, financial services, and public sector. They are based around the globe London, Madrid, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City, Sydney, LA, NYC, Mexico City, and many places in between. We are partners with the industry body, the Design Business Association. We know this sector, and are well known in it as the people to go to when an agency wants to grow its reputation or client base.

We take a different approach to many traditional PR agencies – creating high quality editorial for our clients, and integrating our campaigns with new business activity – and we get outstanding results.

In just the past few months our clients have been featured in national newspapers such as The Guardian and The Times, business media like City AM and Management Today, consumer media like Stylist and Monocle, leading trade titles such as The Grocer, Harpers, and Property Week, and all our own sector press like Adweek, Design Week, The Drum, Campaign, It's Nice That, and Transform.

We lose few clients and win a steady stream of new ones through recommendation and referral. We've built a strong foundation - a solid client base, a fantastic team, and a reputation as the people to speak to when you want to grow your agency - and over the next 3-5 years we plan to build on this with significant expansion of our team in Brighton, London and NYC.

Job Description:

Do you want to join the Brighton team that's telling the stories of the world's most exciting creative design agencies?

We are looking to hire an Account Executive who can help us get the work, ideas, and opinions of those agencies into the world's most consumed media.

You will be a key part of a team responsible for delivering to a growing client base. You will report into the Account Director, and also work closely with a Media Consultant, and Writer.

Your core responsibilities will include:

- tracking coverage and building client reports

- building media lists for clients

- issuing news releases

- tracking forward features lists

- monitoring incoming media enquiries

- reading key media

- spotting stories on which our clients could comment

- working with the team to deliver to journalists.

- writing media-facing content

- providing general administrative support to the team

- supporting the MD in researching potential media opportunities for new business leads.

This is a hugely varied role with great scope for progression. You’ll be working as an integral part of a senior team, liaising directly with journalists and clients. You’ll also learn the skills and tricks of the trade in some of the areas that are most critical to a successful career in PR: media relations, client relations and editorial writing.

You’ll be busy – this isn’t a role for someone who likes watching the clock tick round till five. But you’ll get a real buzz from seeing your work appear in the media, from your clients valuing your input, from your team coming to rely on that input, and from being a vital part of a fun, happy, fast-growing agency.

Person Specification:

You will need some experience of life in a PR agency. Ideally you’ve graduated (in PR or a good academic subject), done a first job and are looking for a step up – a role you can really get into, earn a lot, contribute a lot, and start moving along a career path.

  • Intelligent: we need someone who can understand our clients and the briefs they give us, who can find angles and ideas for getting our clients into the media

  • Organised: The role is varied and you need to keep on top of a lot of information from a wide range of sources, so you need to be able to organise it all and never miss an opportunity
  • Keen to improve: At all levels of our organisation we are all working to improve our skills and knowledge so we can do a better job for our clients
  • Flexible: We’re always improving the way we work, so your role will develop and evolve
  • Self-starting: We want someone who will take the initiative, who’ll think as well as listen, and who we can trust to get things sorted out
  • Trustworthy: Your team need someone who they can rely on day in day out to deliver for them as much as they’ll deliver for you

Additional Information:

The salary for this role is £18-24k dependent on experience. We also offer a company pension scheme, childcare vouchers, and 25 days paid holiday plus the day off on your birthday.

Red Setter is a lovely place to work. We're about to move to larger offices in one of the highest spec spaces in central Brighton, we have frequent social events – from after-work drinks on the beach to a whole company weekend trip to Berlin in March) and there’s a fun, happy and friendly vibe in the office.

Aside from all this, we believe the most exciting aspect of this role is the potential for development it offers the right candidate. This is partly learning from the senior, experienced and highly talented people you’ll work alongside, but it is also progression within the agency. Since we were founded in Brighton in 2012 we’ve grown turnover by 50% year-on-year, and this is creating opportunities for the right people – opportunities overseas, especially with our NYC clients, as well as opportunities to build careers in media relations, account direction, writing, and so on.
