Auction run on our platform regularly run exceed turnovers of £500k and beyond.

About the Job
We are looking for someone to help us improve the reliability & scalability of our platform and to help us make the move on to cloud based hosting. As we enter new markets would like to develop our platform to take in to account the challenges new markets represent to us. We wish to be more flexible and we want to innovate in the way we deliver our product, to make the best use of the variable demand of the auction lifecycle.
You will be in the thick of it helping us make decisions, getting involved in the conversation of how best to turn ideas in to reality through solid implementation. We work on a democratic basis and value your recommendations.
You will be someone who is a keen technologist, who lives and breathes technology and is not afraid to take on the responsibility of delivering reliability. We like people who have a natural interest in keeping up to date with the latest ideas and technologies. We are looking for someone to grow with us and develop a set of skills complementary to our products and existing team and help us grow as a company.
We want to be informed of the latest trends and would expect you to keep us up to date with latest ideas that can help us develop our system.
Our platform has been built upon a Java/Linux/MySQL Stack. Whilst you won’t need to be a Java programmer exposure and knowledge of Tomcat administration will be needed. The following outlines the technology we use and the types of skills that we’d like you to be able to offer us.
• Good solid Linux skills, preferably Debian
• Excellent troubleshooting skills (able to think round problems)
• Apache and/or Nginx
• Tomcat & Java administration
• MySQL database skills
• Scripting skills (BASH, Ansible, Python)
• Some exposure to public/private cloud-based hosting
• Digital Ocean, Docker scripting and automation of deployments.
• Remote monitoring and automatic scaling, load balancing
• Enhance our reliability
• Manage the Migration from existing server to our new host Digital Ocean.
