You must live and breathe Design, with huge amounts of energy and passion for Industrial design and graphic design and everything design. Combined with a keen eye for detail and a lust for sustainability and provenance. A determination and drive to see your projects through at each stage from concept to creation and into the marketplace. You will be a highly motivated exceptional Industrial / Creative Designer, with an inquisitive mind and a naturally creative eye, a desire to problem solve and analyse a brief to provide cohesive designs and solutions. You will happily get stuck in with all tasks from creative design to industrial design, whilst utilising prerequisite skills and being hands on with prototyping and R&D.
You will have up to five years of professional experience with a can-do attitude and ability to balance vision with pragmatism.
Industrial Design Responsibilities – Supportive product research tasks, identifying end user need and ensuring human insight shapes the design and delivery of products and services. Concept sketching and ideation, Problem exploration, Analysing and responding to a written brief. Concept Ideation, Concept visualisation, detailed design, 3D printing, Practical R&D explorations and assessments, feedback & evaluation.
Creative Responsibilities - Concept sketching and visualisation of ideas through the use of competent graphic design skills. Outputs include occasional Marketing collateral – Web & Print based and product packaging graphics.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of design and innovation. Show great problem-solving aptitude.
- Have great sketching and visualisation skills.
- Be able to confidently communicate new ideas to team members and clients.
- Demonstrate great presentation skills.
- Be highly competent in a broad range of creative skills and software (including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign and Solid works, Solid works PDM)
- Understand how things work, how they’re made and how they are assembled.
- Be able to solve challenging technical problems and design products for manufacture.
- Project management skills and project cost controls.
- Support Seniors in preparations for workshops, deadlines and presentations.
- Be an enthusiastic and proactive team player willing to learn new skills.
- Become a go-to amongst colleagues and the wider team.
NB. Please note that Mitchell & Cooper may at times ask you to step outside of your day-to-day role to help with exceptional circumstances. I.e. Urgent enquiries/large orders with tight deadlines.
