Junior Marketing & Community Manager

onHand is an on-demand marketplace to give and get help, focused on helping older adults with basic tasks. According to City AM we’re "Revolutionising care by connecting and mobilising a unique community". A graduate of Facebook's LDN_LAB accelerator, we launched in early 2019, signing up 3500+ volunteers and delivering over a 1000 hours of help to hundreds of older adults. Come join us!

Fantastic opportunity for a graduate with 1-3 years experience to join a fast growing start-up in the heart of Brighton.

onHand is a marketplace app that allows people to give and get help, whenever and wherever they are. Our focus is using the app to match volunteers with older adults who need help with basic tasks. Things like shopping, tech lessons, help around the house or simply sharing a cup of tea and having a chat. In doing so, we believe onHand can help address the growing care crisis facing our ageing population and maybe just leave the world a better place too.

You will be at the heart of everything we do to engage and onboard members of our marketplace community. We expect to grow very quickly, expanding across the UK and then internationally. The scope for personal and professional growth for any team member joining us at this stage should be tremendous.

Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include: liaising with our volunteers and customers to make matches; ensuring our matches work well for all; and keeping our volunteers and customers engaged with us from week to week. We use a mix of social tools, phone, email and in-person meet ups to drive engagement and expect the role to involve some days in London and occasionally some odd hours, so willingness to be flexible is needed (but we are nice and will be flexible too in ensuring you take hours back when you need it!).

The role may also attract equity at the appropriate stage. The founder has a 20 year career in tech working for some of the UK’s first unicorns and launching new ventures across the US and Europe. You will work directly with him and see all aspects of running a start-up, from customer acquisition, investor engagement and tech build, to setting up the latest digital and productivity tools to ensure we operate as efficiently as possible.
