Senior Platform Engineer - Remote
Tonic Games Group brings together a family of world-class developers and publishers who believe that games are for everyone. More than 300 people strong; we bring together Mediatonic, Fortitude Games and The Irregular Corporation to create original IP and to invest in independent game developers globally.
We continue to build on our ambitions and projects, as such we are looking to hire a Senior Game Services Engineer to be based remotely with occasional visits to our London office (in the future!)
Mediatonic is one of the UK’s largest independent games developers which delights in connecting people through original, mass-multiplayer game experiences and breaking the mould with weird and wonderful games across every platform.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join us as a Platform Engineer. Games industry experience is optional!
At Mediatonic a Platform Engineer is an operationally-minded programmer who takes ownership of our core technology and infrastructure. We’ve built a platform which supports hundreds of thousands of players at any moment in time, shipping tens of thousands of messages each second.
A Platform Engineer should be excited to take on a broad, supporting role - you’ll be one of the first remote members of our Platform team, helping us better serve our global audience.
Often you’ll be directly involved in building and architecting features. You’ll always be expected to define best practises, mentor others, and improve our core systems. You’re a curious, fast learner, obsessed with automation, who enjoys the detective work of figuring out what’s happening when things go wrong!

You have demonstrable experience in...
- Building and delivering features for business-critical applications
- Cloud Services
- Unit/Integration testing
- CI/CD (Jenkins, Azure Devops, TeamCity, or similar)
- Deploying production infrastructure (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, etc)
- Monitoring production services (Grafana, Datadog, ElasticSearch, etc)
- Designing scalable services which scale out in response to load
Bonus points for experience with...
- C# and Dotnet Core
- Kubernetes, Docker and Linux
- Actor Systems
- Event Sourcing
- Pub/Sub Messaging (we use NATS)
- Service Mesh (envoy)
