An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior/lead developer, with a leaning towards back-end development, to join a growing team with the opportunity of future promotion for the right candidate.

A bit about us, before we talk about you…

Wild Dog Design is an award winning digital design agency with a deep understanding of technology, a passion for beautiful design and the experience and desire to combine the two.

In spite of the most extraordinary challenging year that everyone of us has experienced throughout the pandemic and lockdown, we’ve managed to thrive and win new work. We have also made good use of this period to reflect on who we are as an agency, the type of work that as a team we all enjoy, the way we want to live our work & home life balance and we have furthered the dev of a really exciting SaaS project that is set to expand the agency into a new trajectory. In short, it has been a year like no other and as we count down to when we can all meet up, socialise and work together again (not least to celebrate our 25 years in business later this year!), we are now seeking a creative and hungry lead web dev to join us.

Clearly we are still WFH presently, but our future plan will involve a generous flexible working lifestyle built on trust and mutual-respect for our colleagues; we will meet up as a group regularly (in Brighton), and individually to further projects; as lead dev you will be involved in pitches and presentations (usually within SE); you will be comfortable working & overseeing a number of projects concurrently, whilst being happy and confident to liaise directly with clients.

We presently have a wonderful studio space in the centre of the city. As we evolve from being a team of 10-12 occupying the space daily to more flexibility, this may evolve into a new set-up. However it will be Brighton based and you will need to be in a position to make yourself readily available to attend regular and irregular meet-ups. It is going to be exciting and rewarding; and collectively we will find our new way of ‘being’ with your input being very important to us.

What will you be doing and what do we need you to bring to the team?

As Lead Developer at Wild Dog you’ll be required to lead and steer our small team of young developers in all areas of web development. We have a number of legacy, small & classic brochure websites (mainly WordPress or Joomla style), and they still come our way; but what excites us, and where we want to head is expanding our input into more complex and sophisticated bespoke API driven open-source larger scale projects. You will be working with some exceptionally talented and driven individuals, who will also keep you on your toes by challenging conventional approaches and the team is forever seeking better & more efficient ways of developing.

As an agency, we have a three core tier approach to projects (totally interdependent of course) of Creative, Technology and Strategy. You will be excited about working with the creative and strategic team; and you will care as much about how a project appears and why it needs to do what it does, as you will deliver the very best technological solution to enable this.

Finally there is the new SaaS project which draws upon a broad experience within the agency from specialist travel operations activity through to pushing pwa dev to the max. You may have gathered we are massively excited and enthused about this; and you will be too!

If you feel we’ve piqued your interest and you can’t wait to meet us, then we can’t wait to meet you too. Get in touch and tell us about yourself, availability and focus too on the skill-set we need you to bring to the team.
