SEO Analyst

The Role

Your goal will be to ensure that client websites and content are fully optimised across Technical, Content and Off-site SEO and that campaigns integrate seamlessly with other channels such as Creative, Broadcast, PPC and Social Media.

On a daily basis, you’ll be responsible for the smooth running of client projects, executing and managing a portfolio of client SEO campaigns that align and integrate with other digital media channels, including paid channels, creative and development services - as well as wider client marketing activity. You will have the autonomy to proactively build strong working relationships with internal and external contacts whilst ensuring all your accounts exceed best practice standards. 

Current knowledge of SEO practices and techniques in Technical, Content and Off-site SEO is essential to this role and the ideal candidate will have around three years of experience in a dedicated SEO role.

As part of the agency, you will contribute to award-winning integrated media solutions that push the boundaries of our industry, being an expert in SEO and working with other departments and strategists to deliver first-in-class campaigns for our clients.

You will be responsible for communicating SEO strategies and concepts in a meaningful manner which accelerates client understanding and appreciation of SEO.

We expect you to help us to connect and automate everything we can. Within your role as SEO Analyst, we want you to contribute to the development of bespoke tools that will help our business innovate, grow and differentiate from the competition. You will also work on bespoke research projects for clients and the agency. 

You will create and develop client reports through our reporting product, becoming an expert in our dashboarding technology and delivering world-class insights that wow clients.

You will contribute thought leadership across our business and the industry, delivering insightful blog posts on our website and the trade press. You may be asked to help us to develop and deliver training programmes for our clients and internally.

Duties and responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse data to determine the effectiveness of SEO activity on channel and wider campaign performance and identify opportunities.

  • Perform competitive and content analysis, identify gaps in client content or areas of improvement for content expansion.

  • Developing and executing integrated SEO strategies that challenge preconceptions of what’s possible.

  • Communicating with clients to provide updates on the status of their SEO activity and campaigns and make suggestions to increase effectiveness when necessary.

  • Optimise on and off-page elements of client web pages, including metadata and page copy.

  • Monitor performance and track SEO KPIs against benchmarks and targets.

  • Write report commentary to summarise the performance and insights of SEO performance and contribution to client campaigns.

  • Work with other media team members and Strategy & Planning Partners to align and integrate SEO activity with other media channels and client marketing objectives.

  • Assisting in the scheduling of monthly activity on allocated campaigns and reviewing progress throughout the month ensuring time booked for assignments is appropriately used.

  • Conduct technical SEO audits of client websites, manually reviewing issues found by our tools and prioritising resolutions based on expected impact.

  • Run backlink audits on client websites and identifying issues and links to be removed or reconfigured.

  • Implement link building strategies and manage client backlink profiles to build online authority.

  • Follow SEO trends and news and stay up-to-date with new developments and practices.

  • Conducting keyword research using various tools to uncover opportunities for optimisation.

  • Support the wider SEO team with quality control of team output.

  • Developing and maintaining a high level of digital marketing expertise on an on-going basis and establishing yourself as an expert SEO and thought leader within the agency.

  • Constantly looking for ways to improve our offering, both making our processes more efficient and expanding our SEO offerings.

  • Working on pitch decks discovering opportunities and supporting us to win new business.

 

Skills and qualifications

Requirements:

  • Experience developing and executing SEO strategies.

  • A minimum of three years experience in a dedicated SEO role.

  • Expertise in Google Analytics.

  • Complete familiarity with keyword research and content optimisation approaches and best practice.

  • Thorough understanding of ranking factors and search engine optimisation best practices.

  • Strong analytical and mathematics skills and expertise.

  • Strong communication skills – ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams. Confident in explaining and concisely communicating creative, strategic and professional ideas. 

  • Excellent English proficiency is essential.

  • Experience instructing and mentoring junior team members

  • Time management – being able to juggle multiple activities and client accounts, ensuring on-time delivery of all required tasks.

  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Open, honest and direct. Comfortable in giving and receiving constructive feedback from colleagues and clients.

  • Self-motivated and able to work both individually and as part of a team.

  • Highly competent in G-suite applications and/or Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent knowledge of industry software & tools, including SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Google Analytics, Google Search Console and more.

  • Be flexible and adaptable.

  • Able to work under pressure and meet key deadlines.

  • A natural intuition to understand what does or does not fit within a client’s brand ethics.

  • A passion for digital marketing and a strong desire to learn and develop within SEO.

 

Nice to haves:

  • PPC - an understanding of the fundamentals of paid search (PPC) advertising campaigns.

  • Social media marketing – an understanding of the main social media platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and organic and paid marketing tactics on these platforms.

  • Google Ads certified professional.

  • Google Analytics certification, GAIQ.

  • Experience of Scripting.

  • Coding languages (for example JSON, Javascript, R, and Python).

  • Additional languages (i.e. Chinese, French, Spanish etc.)
