We are a small organisation with a big impact and we need someone who can develop and implement an effective communications plan which not only lets people know that but also makes them want to be a part.
Working in the Brighton & Hove area and with a current focus on supporting the 16-25 age group, Sussex Nightstop is a community response to homelessness utilising a volunteer hosting model. Our volunteer hosts offer short-term stays for those at risk of rough-sleeping providing both a practical intervention and kindness at a point of crisis. After a year considerably interrupted by Covid our sights are now on the future and our priorities are clear – we need to build our volunteer host, grow our supporter and donor base and ensure that the impact we make is well understood by all those who have an interest in reducing homelessness.
This role is fundamental to us achieving success across our priorities and you’ll be using use your proven track record and understanding of the voluntary and community sector to create and coordinate opportunities that raise our profile, working collaboratively with our staff team, volunteers and beneficiaries to best effect.
People are important to us. Responsible for building strong relationships with all of our supporters you’ll be instrumental in gathering the best service data possible and turning it into compelling stories that engage and influence. In charge of writing digital and hard copy for a variety of stakeholders you’ll be a strategic communicator who can confidently motivate people to support the Sussex Nightstop effort and who understands completely the importance of diversity and who will help us achieve that by threading it through all aspects of our communications and engagement work.
Drawing from your experience you will:
- have lead responsibility for developing and implementing our communications plan, working strategically to ensure that all activities contribute towards us achieving our priorities
- run successful fundraising campaigns and volunteer recruitment campaigns, boosting both income and host numbers and;
- Take day-to-day responsibility for running of our social media and website, using your strong technical background and good knowledge of digital analytics to maximise our use of these platforms; increasing both social media audience participation and website traffic.
Acting as point of first enquiry to the organisation this is a busy, varied and important role in a vital community charity requiring a flexible individual who, working collaboratively with the Director and the rest of the team, has the ability to manage multiple strands of work across several key organisational areas.
The role requires a mix home and office-based working in Brighton and Hove* and requires a Basic Level DBS check
