UI/Digital Product Designer

We are looking for a junior digital product designer to join our multi-disciplined design team. You’ll be reporting to the head of design, helping deliver our next generation of products. We understand job titles vary, so whether you’re a UI designer, UX/UI designer, or a digital designer we want to hear from you.

An overview of the opportunity

We are designing our next generation of products around machine-learning led job-recommendations and career advice. You’ll collaborate with our in-house team of UX designers, developers, product owners and research to create new features that help us achieve this.

You’ll work with our lead digital product designer to deliver changes to our existing client’s job boards and well as creating brand new job boards for new clients.

You’ll be an important part of Madgex’s supportive and friendly design team. We meet weekly to share learnings and provide feedback on each other’s work so we can help each other improve.

We want to help you become the best designer you can be. As well as informal learning opportunities we’ll support your career development through mentoring, personal development objectives, conferences, and online learning subscriptions.

Ideally, you’ll have some experience/evidence of:

  • Demonstrating your designs to clients and external stakeholders and helping them understand how you came to your decisions.
  • Working closely with developers to make sure your designs are accessible, precise and reflect client’s brands.
  • Working closely with researchers, UX designers and Product owners to make sure your designs capture the insight and opportunities discovered during a design process.
  • A focus on continued learning and improvement, keeping up to date with the latest design approaches.
  • Excellent communication and time-keeping skills.
  • A deep understanding of how to use visual hierarchy, colour theory, typography, and whitespace to create the best possible UIs.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates your best UI design, showing the process of how you arrived at your outcomes.

You might also have:

  • Experience working at different stages of the product development process for web-based, SaaS products.
  • Experience using and contributing towards a design system.
  • An understanding of DesignOps and how it can make design teams more effective.
  • Knowledge and experience of the UCD process and how it can be used effectively to make better products.
  • Knowledge and interest of the latest design tools and processes to make us as effective as possible, while knowing how to get the most out of what we’ve got (Figma, Miro).
