The post holder will be responsible for the management and day-to-day running of the technical support at Brighton Film School across multiple sites. Working alongside and managing the technicians to oversee the Film School kit rooms and associated equipment and support the staff and students in the use and access to the equipment, to ensure efficiency, security, and full compliance with health & safety requirements. Experience of establishing systems and processes, to ensure high levels of service would be an advantage. Line management or supervisory experience along with excellent communication, planning, organisational and time management abilities are essential.

• Good time management and prioritising skills
• Computer Literate
• Health and Safety Awareness, risk assessments and audit experience
• Understanding of IT (PC & Apple)
• Understanding and knowledge of film production equipment

Desirable Criteria

• Ideally a full clean Driving licence (or willingness to gain one)
• Ideally a First Aid at Work qualification (or willingness to gain one)
• Ideally have Fire Marshal training (or willingness to gain)

Role Summary

• To ensure, along with the other Film School technical team, that technical support is available during the core school hours, between 8am and 6.15pm each working day.
• To oversee the service and maintenance of a wide range of school audio visual, film, sound and multi-media equipment.
• To coordinate and provide an efficient set-up service providing audio-visual and multi-media equipment across school as requested to support curriculum.
• To assist with technician services and instruction to groups of learners in timetabled practical sessions.
• To lead in all aspects of health and safety of the school, including risk assessments, PAT testing and health and safety audits
• To ensure appropriate levels of support both technical and practical during events and promotional activities

Key Accountabilities

The post holder will be required to meet the listed accountabilities, these are indicative of the roles and responsibilities you will have. However, these may change in line with the needs of the school.

• To ensure that the school’s audio-visual, film, sound and multi-media equipment is maintained in a serviceable condition; including Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
• To coordinate the set-up of equipment as required to meet the needs of delivered sessions.
• To provide training on the set-up of equipment for school staff and students.
• To oversee the creation and maintenance of an inventory of all equipment.
• To oversee maintenance of records for the booking and return of all equipment.
• To oversee and manage the maintenance of a central record of all risk assessments, health and safety audits, fire risk assessments and PAT records, for all sites.
• To ensure appropriate instruction is given to students in all aspects of use of equipment and software as required for planned sessions.
• Oversee the production of planned maintenance schedule for the school infrastructure and equipment and IT resources
• To coordinate minor works on school resources as required and/or facilitate repairs and maintenance from third parties
• Management of an effective process and system for the booking in and out of kit to student groups for all classes and shoots.

Flexible working hours are required. Evening and weekend work may be required to fit in with student shoots at times of the year. This will be expected to be scheduled with the working hours of the week where possible.
