What we are looking for…
A Junior Designer who has some experience creating a range of communications within existing brand guidelines, as well as a passion for developing new and exciting brand identities. A love of the visual arts is an absolute must, as is a keen eye for detail. We want to see your enthusiasm for design and how it can help us build our clients’ brands. As this role is a Junior position, we’d really like to see an enthusiasm to learn and develop, be open to constructive criticism to help your development, a passion for getting involved in all the important smaller tasks that help the creative team keep moving forward.
Skill set required...
Educated in a design or digital media design related degree or relevant experience in the industry.
Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Design for Web, Mobile and Print.
Other useful experience: HTML5 Animation, Adobe After Effects, Dreamweaver (or other HTML programming software).
Ability to interpret briefs and turn around creative response quickly and efficiently.
An understanding of HTML/CSS web or email coding with a desire to develop and learn.
Ideally artworking for print.
A portfolio of work demonstrating both original design and use of existing brand guidelines (where possible).
Keen eye for detail and consistency.
A desire to want to work within a team and not in isolation - although flexible home working is an option.
A bit about us...
For nearly 50 years we’ve been working closely with our clients to breathe life into brands, develop smarter strategies, and deliver canny creative campaigns – big and small. And although we work with global names like American Express, Amazon, and Uber, we’re proud to support leading local businesses too.
Lewes is a beautiful town steeped in history and chock-full of character. Our base of operations is a Grade 2 listed art gallery, with the rolling hills of Sussex as our backdrop. But if, for some reason, that doesn’t appeal, then don’t worry – we’re flexible with working from home too. Although we’re a small company, our business is continually growing, which will give you the opportunity to shape a unique role based on your skills and what you want to do.
We’re a friendly bunch who believe in balancing hard work with plenty of fun and down time. Fancy challenging the Managing Director to the rather strange local game of ‘Toads’? Or perhaps you’re brave (or foolhardy) enough to consider joining our company skittles team… Oh, and we offer free yoga classes to all staff, if downward dog is more your thing.
Speaking of dogs, we’re a pooch-friendly place, so we’d love it if you brought yours along to meet Nelson, our Head of Creative Livestock Management. (just Google World's Worst Sheedog and you will see what we mean).
If this sounds like the role for you, then do drop us a line via anna@michaelbell.co.uk with examples of your work and salary expectations.
